My guiding philosophy: Student/client-centered somatic learning is at the root of what I offer. I am an advocate for the body’s innate wisdom and goodness. I teach students tools they can use on the yoga mat and in their lives to cultivate “interested curiosity.” I plant the seeds of new attitudes, aimed at delaying judgment (of self- and others), encouraging self-awareness, and believing that change is possible. Providing thoughtful attention, skilled teaching, encouragement, and most importantly, a loving mirror for my students and clients, are the most important things I do. My clients/students are not “the rotator cuff” or “the Griever.” They are fully alive people, seeking short-term solutions and long-term joy. Bio bits: I have been a massage therapist in private practice since 2001, and teaching group yoga classes since 2004. In addition to formal education in yoga, yoga therapy, massage, theology, Christian spirituality, herbalism, dream work and poetry, I am skilled in postural and energetic assessments, and therapeutic applications of yoga for whole person wellness. I’m a gentle and encouraging presence, delighted to educate others about simple concepts from anatomy and physiology and energy systems as a way of empowering students and clients to discover the joy of the body. Populations of special interest include: those grieving, addictions/recovery, people in transition, and enthusiastic explorers of the inner life.
