Welcome to IAYT's Certification Pages

IAYT is committed to a certification of individual yoga therapists (C-IAYT) that is internationally recognized and respected - by yoga therapy practitioners and educators steeped in the yoga tradition, and by practitioners from other healthcare fields with whom yoga therapists work in partnership. Establishing the proper structure and process to provide this credential is a major part of our standards effort.

It was a big step, and we recognized that it takes time and resources to do this right. Beginning in the autumn of 2014, we gathered a diverse group of people with the expertise to develop the certification criteria and process. This Certification Committee, along with your input, has made excellent progress in a short time and has created a credential that is increasingly recognized. Applications are now open for submission.

All applicants for IAYT certification (C-IAYT) must be current
IAYT members and agree to the IAYT Code of Ethics and Grounds for Disciplinary Action, the Use of the C-IAYT Credential, and review the Scope of Practice.

IAYT members who are Graduates of IAYT accredited yoga therapist training programs may apply anytime following completion of their program.

Registration for Grandparenting closed on June 30, 2017. If you registered to apply prior to the end date, there is some additional time to get your online application completed and materials in.  See below for details.

Please use the Contact Us form if have questions about the Certification process or guidelines.

If you are practicing yoga therapist interested in being a C-IAYT, not attending an accredited program, and did not apply for certification while grandparenting was available, we would like to know more about why you did not apply.

For another review of the certification process and preparation recommendations, see Aggie Stewart’s article in the Winter 2015 Issue of Yoga Therapy Today, Steps to Certify and Board Charge to Certification Committee.

To create, develop, and sustain the certification process requires resources. Your membership dues and donations are the lifeblood of the IAYT organization. Contributions of any size are received with gratitude.
