Bidyut K. Bose, PhD. Bidyut Bose is a long time student of Indian Philosophy
and world religions. Having earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from U.C. Berkeley,
his present research interests include the science of flexibility and the mechanisms
of aging, and the scientific application of Raja Yoga for common chronic conditions and special populations.
Inspired by Swami Vivekananda, he founded Niroga Institute, a non-profit dedicated
to providing affordable, high-quality Yoga instruction and Yoga therapy to underserved
individuals and families.

Dilip Sarkar, MD, FACS, CAP, President IAYT Board of Directors.
Dr. Sarkar is a retired vascular surgeon and Fellow of the American Association
of Integrative Medicine. A certified Ayurvedic practitioner and yoga teacher,
Dr. Sarkar teaches classes in yoga therapy, Ayurvedic wellness, and integrative
medicine, combining forty-five years of experience in conventional medicine with
knowledge of Ayurveda and yoga. He retired as Associate Professor of Surgery at
Eastern Virginia Medical School as well as Chairman of the Department of Surgery
and Chief of Staff at Portsmouth General Hospital in Portsmouth, VA. Dr. Sarkar
currently serves on several healthcare boards, including the American Heart
Association (AHA). President of the AHA’s Board of Directors for the Hampton
Roads region, Dr. Sarkar also chairs its Mission Committee and the “My Life
Check” program. He is a life
member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association and serves as a member of
its Yoga Standards Subcommittee. Dr. Sarkar also serves as Board Chairman for
the Life in Yoga Institute and Chairman of the School of Integrative Medicine at
Taksha University in Hampton, VA.

Bob Butera, E-RYT, M.Div., Ph.D.,
Vice President, IAYT Board of
Directors. Dr. Butera is the
founder of The YogaLife Institute and publisher of
Yoga Living
magazine in the greater Philadelphia
market. He is certified as a yoga therapist through his work with Dr. Javadeva
Yogendra at the Yoga Institute of Bombay (1989) and later obtained his Ph.D. in
yoga therapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies. He also holds a
Master of Divinity degree from the Earlham School of Religion. Dr. Butera trains
yoga therapists, yoga instructors, and meditation instructors in Devon, PA,
Exeter, NH, and Brantford, Ontario. He emphasizes a holistic exploration of yoga
and is known for teaching ancient classical yoga principles in a practical and
relevant way that connects students with their own divinity. Dr. Butera is the
author of Meditation for

Staffan Elgelid, PT, GCFT, PhD. Member, IAYT Board of Directors.
Dr. Elgelid is Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY, where he
teaches health and wellness and serves as director of the college’s health and wellness programs. Dr.
Elgelid has presented on a multitude of topics nationally and internationally. He is also a Feldenkrais
practitioner and has been active in the Feldenkrais and somatic education community at both the national
and international level. Dr. Elgelid was elected to the IAYT Board of Directors in May, 2013, and now
serves as the Board’s liaison to the Accreditation Committee. He previously served on both the
Accreditation Committee and the Advisory Council. Dr. Elgelid has published several articles in
IAYT publications and holds a yoga therapy certification from the YogaLife Institute.

Eleanor Criswell, Ed.D., president,
is professor of psychology at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California, where in cooperation with Joseph Le Page of Integrative Yoga Therapy she developed one of the first graduate programs in Yoga therapy in the United States. She is the author of many publications on Yoga and Somatics, including How Yoga Works: An Introduction to Somatic Yoga. She also has extensive experience with nonprofit associations and has been the editor of Somatics magazine-journal http://www.somaticsed.com/magJournal.html since 1990.

Ellen Fein
is a Licensed
Clinical Social Worker, a registered Yoga teacher and a certified Yoga therapist.
She spent more than 20 years working in the mental health field, with much of that
time spent as the CEO of a rural mental health center.
As a result of her
husband's illness and death, and then her own experience with cancer, she now works
as a Yoga Therapist and Cancer Coach, with an emphasis on mind-body medicine, supporting
individuals living with cancer, teaching Yoga for healing, writing and doing public
speaking. (See

She is also on the Faculty for the Center for Mind-Body Medicine.

Susan Gould-Fogerite, PhD, is Director of Research, at the Institute for
Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and Associate Professor, Primary Care, School of Health Related Professions, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She is a researcher in mind/body science, vaccinology, mucosal immunology, drug
delivery, and gene therapy. In additions, she is a lecturer, writer, inventor, Hatha, meditation
and breathwork teacher and Reiki energy healer. She is also a scientific founder of BioDelivery
Sciences International.

Molly Lannon Kenny, MS-CCC, E-RYT,
vice president, is a nationally recognized innovator, researcher and educator in the field of Yoga-based
therapy, and one of the nation's leading experts in neurophysiology and Yoga. She
is a licensed speech-language pathologist and certified yoga instructor, and is
the founder and director of The Samarya Center for Integrated Movement Therapy and
Ashtanga Yoga. Molly developed Integrated Movement Therapy? her innovative
approach for students of all ages with exceptional challenges, combining her love
of yoga with her extensive clinical background. She has provided therapy in a variety
of settings to a broad range of individuals and is well known in the field as a
dynamic, creative and effective therapist and advocate.

Matra Raj, OTR, E-RYT 500, IAYT Secretary and Treasurer.
Matra is an occupational therapist, a perinatal
educator, and a yoga therapist. She has integrated therapeutic yoga in acute,
clinical, research, and community wellness settings. For the past 30 years,
Matra has presented at national and international conferences, published several
papers, and conducted workshops and seminars for professionals and community
wellness programs.
Matra integrates therapeutic yoga and occupational therapy in her private
practice, including her program, “Yoga for Spine Care.” She has worked as a
stroke research therapist in the Research and Development department at VA Palo
Alto Health Care System. Matra also provides workshops on the practice of yoga
for prevention and heart disorders. She teaches and certifies yoga teachers for
pre-natal and mother-baby yoga and has designed a perinatal yoga program,
“Becoming Parents,” for an education support network at Lucille Packard
Children’s Hospital at Stanford University. She has also created educational
DVDs for pre-natal and mother-baby yoga and authored Yoga for Pregnancy,
Birth, and Vibrant Life (2011).
Matra is the founder of the Indo-American Community Service Center in Santa
Clara, CA. She serves on the Board of the Palo Alto Family YMCA and chairs its
Diversity Wellness committee. Matra also serves on the Educational Wellness
Committee of the Cardiac Resource Center for Asians at El Camino Hospital in
Mountain View, CA.
