Institute for Medical Yoga

The Institute for Medical Yoga (IMY) is the major institute on Yoga therapy in Sweden.  We have been involved in scientifc research on Yoga since 1998 and we train MDs, nurses and physiotherapists in Yoga as medicine. In 2009, IMY participated in implementing Yoga as a regular treatment for heart patients in Swedish Hospitals.

Ananda is a world-wide organization, whose home-base is at Ananda Village in Nevada City, CA. There are also Ananda communities in Palo Alto, CA, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, Assisi, Italy, and Pune & Gurgaon, India. The communities in Assisi and India also have guest Retreat facilities, but Ananda Village is the only one with such a facility in the U.S. At Ananda Village the guest Retreat is called “The Expanding Light Yoga & Meditation Retreat? Of our various communities, Ananda Yoga Teacher Training happens here at the Village (at the Expanding Light Retreat) and it is also offered at Portland, Seattle, and Assisi. We designate Ananda Yoga at the Expanding Light Retreat when we refer to our facility, which is the only place (for now, at least) that will be offering Ananda Yoga Therapist Training.
