As acting assistant director from 1999-2002 at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram/Center in Grass Valley and San Francisco and directing my own Yoga Center in Hannover, Germany, since 2004 I have 20 years of full time experience applying the therapeutic benefits of classical Yoga practices and techniques. This experience has taken place primarily in the context of group sessions, one-on-one therapeutic classes, corporate yoga sessions, adapted courses to special groups as well as training and counseling new yoga teachers.
The individual centric teaching methodology is based on an initial assessment and the progression of each student/ client over time. Customized and periodically evolving practice routines are central in this approach. It integrates tools of yoga, meditation, relaxation, diet, lifestyle practices and adapting them to the individual requirements based on age, profession, capacity (health status & constitution) and also external factors such as place of residence, season etc. The teaching is addressing the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level of health and well being. This includes areas of recovery or management of existing health conditions.
In addition I apply the knowledge of Ayurveda, Vedic Astrology (Jyotish) and Yoga Philosophy in support of the Yoga techniques and practices.
I hold the RYT-500 qualification, having completed both the Sivananda Yoga teachers Training Course and an Advanced Yoga Training. I am extensively trained in Meditation, Vedanta, Ayurvedic Diet and Vedic Astrology as well as in Yoga Therapy, trained in both the USA and in Germany.
I belong to the Shankaracharya lineage. My approach is based on the teachings of the great Master Swami Sivananda Saraswati who was originally a medical doctor and Swami Vishnudevananda Saraswati, who was given the title as hatha yoga professor. Most of my learning took place in the Gurukula System under the guidance of Swami Sitaramananda.
I have taught not only in the US, Canada and Germany but also in Asian Countries such as India, Vietnam, Taiwan and Japan. I am currently based in Germany and travel frequently to teach abroad.
