I am a E-RYT 500 Certified Viniyoga Teacher and Certified Yoga Therapist with 20+ years of experience teaching yoga group, private sessions and workshops in the United States of America and Mexico, as well as leading the Mexico Viniyoga Retreats in Central Mexico.
A certified Viniyoga™ Teacher, Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider and Certified Yoga Therapist accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapy, Susana dedicated many years of her youth to perform as a professional dancer, actress and working as a dance teacher and choreographer in Mexico City, Oaxaca, Mexico, and Paris, France.
She always felt drawn to yoga, and began to practice it around 1984. In 1996, she did her first Teacher Training with Federico Enriquez, Indra Devi’s student, and has been teaching Yoga classes and workshops ever since, both in Mexico and in the U.S.A.
After arriving in Oregon in 2008, she continued her education with a 200 hour Yoga Alliance certification at Portland’s Amrita, a Sanctuary for Yoga, followed by one year of apprenticeship.
In 2012, she attended her first workshop taught by Gary Kraftsow, founder and director of the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI). The teachings resonated so powerfully with her own sentiments that she decided to enroll in the AVI Teacher Training. She completed the 500 hour Viniyoga Teacher Training in 2015, and the Yoga Therapist Training in 2018.
She resides with her husband in the Portland area, Oregon, where she teaches group classes, workshops and holds private and small group Yoga Therapy sessions and series. She also leads retreats in Central Mexico since 2017.
In her classes, Susana emphasizes mindfulness and awareness on breath and movement, encouraging students and clients to discover their potential and empowering them to improve their health at all levels: physical, physiological and emotional, using the ancient tools of the yoga tradition.
She thanks her teachers, Gary Kraftsow, Mary Hilliker, the AVI Faculty, Federico & Cristina Enriquez, Virginia Filip, Sarahjoy Marsh, Liz Eisman and Leslie Kaminoff, and all the students that she has had the joy to encounter throughout the years.
