Professional Information
As an author and yoga educator, I founded the LifeForce Yoga Healing Institute (LFYHI) in 2004, dedicated to research and education on the benefits of yoga in sustaining optimum mental health.  LFYHI has a faculty of yoga and mental health professionals who train yoga teachers and health care professionals as LifeForce Yoga Practitioners, integrating yoga skills in the treatment of mood disorders, addictions and trauma. Since 1991, when I began teaching at Kripalu Center, I have been working with individuals and groups at international yoga retreat and training centers, international yoga and mental health conferences, academic settings, yoga studios, and online, teaching the principles and practices of yoga for mood regulation.  My work is founded in classical yoga, Nondualism and my work with thousands of students individually and in groups since 1991. In my work to empower people to manage their moods I have written two books: YOGA FOR DEPRESSION (Broadway Books, 2004) and YOGA SKILLS FOR THERAPISTS (W.W. Norton, 2012), produced educational audio-visual products and write and edit a research newsletter on yoga and mental health.
