New in 2017:  Global Networking Initiative
This meeting of international yoga associations, societies and networks will convene on Wednesday morning, June 14 from 9 am to noon.

This GNI meeting is the outcome of some informal conversations initiated by the Japan Yoga Therapy Society (JYTS) and held among representatives of four organizations at last year’s SYTAR. We are now planning the first meeting of this Global Networking Initiative which aims to continue and expand the discussions on national and global platforms, exploring the successes and challenges in advancing Yoga Therapy as a respected and viable science.

This meeting is being held with the support of IAYT just prior to SYTAR, and it will be finished in time for organization representatives to participate in the SYTAR Meeting of Schools.

 Explanation of Meeting Context and Objectives

  • Sharing and identifying common challenges, particularly in regard to maintaining integrity of Yoga Therapy as a field
  • Brainstorming ways to support each other

 Presentations by participating organizations

  • Brief self and organizational introductions:
    Three-minute presentations on challenges being faced and/or other issues requiring wider networking

 Identify and discuss overlapping issues:

(e.g., efforts to gain official recognition of yoga therapy as a complementary or alternative therapy; strengthening yoga therapy client assessment methods; challenges related to national regulations)
