Swami Kuvalyananda Awards for SYR 2020

Swami Kuvalyananda was the pioneer of scientific research in the field of Yoga. He established the Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute in the year 1924, wherein he also started the first research journal of yoga, Yoga Mimamsa. The institute works in the field of yoga through scientific and philosophic literary research, training and therapy (www.kdham.com).

In honor of Swami Kuvalyananda, there will be multiple award opportunities. Most are for new investigators but some are specific for students or researchers from India. All awards are based on the merit of your accepted research abstract. If you would like to be considered for one of the awards, please indicate this by entering the appropriate information in the abstract submission form. Final abstract acceptance and any award is contingent upon conference registration.

This year, we will have seven research awards. One award will be for a student and at least one award will be for an author from India. There will be awards for abstracts submitted by researchers from any country. New investigators are recent graduates with their terminal degree within five years of SYR 2020. (The awards committee may modify this structure if circumstances warrant.)

On the Abstract Submission Form you will be asked to indicate:
  • If you are a current student, or
  • If you are a recent graduate (within 5 years) of a terminal degree (PhD, MD, etc.)
  • If a recent graduate, the date of graduation
  • Your country
Directors note:  IAYT is extremely grateful and supportive of these awards to honor the yoga research legacy of Swami Kuvalyananda.  If you would like to help us grow the support for these awards, please contact us.
