Innovative, up-and-coming yoga therapists bringing therapeutic yoga to unserved populations: Please tell us about your project, and you could win IAYT's Seva Award!

Who Can Apply?

Individuals or small groups may apply. At least one person actively involved in the project must be a C-IAYT or currently enrolled in an IAYT-accredited yoga therapy training program. (If there are multiple applicants, all must be IAYT members. Haven't joined yet? Do so today, and help support IAYT's mission, here.)

What Projects Will Be Considered?

Projects can be proposed or already underway and should benefit a population that might not otherwise be able to access yoga therapy. We're looking for innovative work that fosters accessibility, inclusivity, and diversity in the field of yoga therapy. The plan must include specifics about how the project will be communicated to and integrated into the community.

The Award Includes:

$1,008 (US) prize for project facilitation
$400 (US) toward travel to IAYT's Symposium on Yoga Therapy and Research (SYTAR)
Registration for one person to attend SYTAR in June 2020
Hotel stipend for 3 free nights at the symposium in Lincolnshire, IL
Yoga mats from Give Back Yoga Foundation to facilitate project classes
Opportunity to tell the project's story in an upcoming IAYT publication
Recognition onstage at SYTAR
Social media coverage from IAYT

Applications are due March 31, 2020.
The winner will be notified April 14, 2020.

The Seva Award will be presented during the Saturday-night banquet at IAYT's Symposium on Yoga Therapy and Research (SYTAR), June 11–14, just outside Chicago.

THE COMMUNICATIONS PLAN:
The Seva Award prioritizes up-and-coming thought leaders in yoga therapy, people who have innovative ideas about how to make their work impactful and known in the community. Applicants are required to include a communication plan outlining how they will present the project in local media outlets, social media, and/or mainstream media; messaging should educate the public on the benefits and potential of yoga therapy. A record of successful previous communications will be considered but is not required.
