Welcome to IAYT's Certification Pages

IAYT is committed to a certification of individual yoga therapists (C-IAYT) that is internationally recognized and respected - by yoga therapy practitioners and educators steeped in the yoga tradition, and by practitioners from other healthcare fields with whom yoga therapists work in partnership. Establishing the proper structure and process to provide this credential is a major part of our standards effort.

IAYT certification provides recognition to yoga therapists who meet or exceed an established set of standards. It is a quality control mechanism whereby through a credible, objective, peer-review process a public stamp of approval is given to highly trained yoga therapists. Additionally, the requirements for ongoing certification help the wider community have confidence as IAYT certified yoga therapists (C-IAYT) make a professional contribution to health, healing and integrative healthcare environments.

IAYT Certification (C-IAYT) is open to all graduates of IAYT accredited yoga therapist training programs, and for a limited period (beginning November 2019), to experienced yoga therapists through a Portfolio Review and Evaluation (PR&E) process. A Certification Exam is in development and will be required of all applicants when available.

See the Eligibility page for more details.

All applicants for IAYT certification (C-IAYT) must be current IAYT members and agree to the IAYT Code of Ethics and Grounds for Disciplinary Action, the Use of the C-IAYT Credential, and review the Scope of Practice
